Nixon
A donation was made in memory of Nixon on Aug 13, 2009.
We found Nixon at a shelter about 4 years ago. He was a cute cocker spaniel who needed a loving home. When we found him, his name was Bobby and it just didn't fit. He loved getting up on his hind legs with his little paws sticking out and reminded us of Richard Nixon, the name was the perfect match. We thought Nixon would be the perfect companion for our other cocker spaniel Molly. Even though they got along ok, Molly made sure to let Nixon know that she was the top dog in the house.
Nixon loved going on car rides and long walks. One of his favorite things was to look out the windows and patrol the neighborhood. He loved to perch himself up on the window sill, because of that the windows were never clean! Another of Nixon's favorite places was grandma and grandpa's house. They had the best backyard for hunting, and going there was always a treat. Not mention the fact that they spoiled him! Nixon also enjoyed going on the family RV trips to Pullman for the Cougar football games. Riding up in the front was where he liked to be.
Nixon was a real protector of baby Quincy when she came along. He would sit beside her playpen to make sure nothing was wrong. The instant she cried or murmered, he was up letting us know we needed to attend to her. He also slept beside her bassinet at night and got up with us every time we needed to change her or feed her. What a great big brother!
For being such a tough guy Nixon was terrified of wind, lightening, thunder, and fireworks. Stormy nights are when you could do the most cuddling with Nixon as he did not really like to cuddle otherwise. He loved to give big sloppy kisses the instant you walked in the door, and often waited for us to come home by watching out his favorite window. Nixon was a very special dog and will always have a very special place in our hearts. Letting Nixon go was one of the hardest things we had to do. We miss him terribly, but know that he had a wonderful life with us and was truly loved.
We love you!
