Turt

I didn't have Turt for very long at all. Only met the box turtle I called Turt last summer. Turt was called Tootsies by my grandson friend named Kenny. Last summer Tootsies was wandering in the backyards of about four different houses only separated by chain link fence. I never could figure out how Tootsies could get thru the fencing but sure did, but later we all found out how. When Tootsies was in Kenny's yard, we always made sure that nothing harmful was ever around. Sometimes we would hear some of the neighbors being ugly to Tootsies and chasing the little turtle around. Once we did see that someone actually threw a closed up box turtle over the fence, we climbed over the fence and got Tootsies and really tried to keep in Kenny's backyard, but didn't make a cage. We lost track of Tootsies when the weather turned colder and then we all started waiting for warmer weather to be on the look out for our small friend. About 2 to 3 days before I took Turt/Tootsies to the vet Kenny found one turtle just laying around but not moving much. Kenny decided that I should take over the turtle since I was an adult that really cared for turtles, having had one as a child and several free roaming ones when I lived in Texas. Unfortunately for the newly renamed Turt it proved to be too late to repair the damage done to shell and people who don't understand that having a turtle in your yard is the greatest way to lose the bugs you don't want, plus they really can't harm you. I'm very sorry that there were no pictures taken of our wonderful little buddy, but Kenny and I have some lovely memories of Tootsies/Turt.
