Our Gemma was not wanted by her previous owner. “I’m not getting along with her, get rid of it”, was what he told the horse trainer who took her in. Dr. Elston made us aware of this mare. We ventured down to the boarding facility and took her home. Gemma was an angry horse when she joined our family. Intimidating. Feisty. But we never gave up on her, and over time she bloomed into the sweetest mare! Unfortunately she developed lymphosarcoma. After 5 years battling these tumors, we reached the end of the road, and confirming her well-being with Dr. Elston, it was time to relieve this Thoroughbred of her pain. This is to you Gemma, my trooper, my fighter, my hero! You were tough as nails! Sleep tight sweet girl, and run free beyond the rainbow bridge!
