Lukas

A donation was made in memory of Lukas by the doctors and staff at Loyal Family Veterinary Hospital on May 30, 2023.

We got Lukas as a rescue from Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League (WAMAL) when he was 5 years old. Our daughter wanted a big dog to take on walks. Lukas very quickly became a part of our family. He was attached at the hip to me, followed me everywhere, and was so cute for such a big dog that looked exactly like a wolf. He used to dance when he was happy like a dog less than half his size. He was everyone's friend, wanted to meet everybody, and there was nothing he loved better than playing or hiking with his pack of dogs we set him up with. That person became one of our best friends and her dogs and Lukas were inseparable. In his last days he did get to see them all again and get lots of gentle licks from the pack and we got tremendous support from the people in the pack and from our Vets at Loyal Family who tried so hard to get Lukas to where he could get some more time. But the osteosarcoma moved too fast or we caught it too late (he was a very stoic dog) and we didn't get there. Thank you to Loyal Family, thank you to Jeny & Jeff Staiman and the pack, thanks to Pam & Mike Mattingly for being there for us. But mostly thank you to Lukas for being our dog, my little fur son who was a magnificient gentle giant, Papa's walking buddy, Mariah's protector, friend to all. You'll never be forgotten.
