"Buddy became our buddy from the moment we picked him up, and he bonded to John at first site. He would follow John anywhere and do anything John asked. Besides being quick to learn tricks and follow commands, Buddy had this funny way of cocking his head to the side while he was being spoken to like he was really trying to understand what we were saying. We had to start spelling the words "walk" and "hungry" because Buddy knew what those words meant, and if we did say the word he would perk up his ears, close his mouth, cock his head and be ready to go. His energy level was tremendous and ongoing so when he started to slow down we knew something was seriously wrong. His illness took us all by surprise and he left us way too early in his life, but the 5 years we had with Buddy are tucked away in our hearts. He was truly our best dog friend."
