Scout

A donation was made in memory of Scout by the doctors and staff at Green Lake Animal Hospital on Aug 21, 2018.

Our beloved Scout was experiencing very rapid breathing and some disorientation. One day he hid behind pillows and refused to eat. We took him to the pet ER in Seattle and they put him into an oxygen chamber for the night (same as in Boise ER the previous Saturday nite driving towards Sun Valley— we then returned to Seattle after that happened). Anyway, Scout started responding to the lasix and oxygen. Then a hour later he collapsed and his vital signs were diminishing. They hypothesize that due to his very enlarged heart, a clot probably developed and broke free stopping blood flow to his brain or elsewhere. At the ER hospital and after much consultation and analysis, we decided that his time had come. He had been struggling for the past few weeks trying to breath and his heart was pushing against his trachea. It is a very fast progressive condition not uncommon to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (congestive heart failure) that had hit a critical final point. Very reluctantly we had to let him go. We were very lucky to get there in time so the last thing he saw was Karl, Walter and me. Scout was truly an amazing dog--- smart, skate board riding, trick wizard, agility jumping, sensitive, master face licking, eager to please, easy to train and very loving boy. As you can imagine this leaves a huge hole in our family and hearts, but he leaves us with 9 1/2 years of loving companionship and wonderful memories. We miss him terribly. RIP dear Scout. We'll imagine you somewhere in the universe keeping Woody the Wonder Dog company.
