Scruffy

A donation was made in memory of Scruffy by Donald Cox, DVM MPH at Connecticut Veterinary Center on Jul 13, 2023.

Scruffy showed up at my front door 2 years ago, and the rest was history! I had recently gotten a bad diagnosis about my childhood cat of 17 years, Princess, that she had oral cancer and only had months to live. I was devastated. I was so caught up in her care and attention that I really didn't want to take another rescue in at that point. But Scruffy refused to leave! Day after day he would show up at my doorstep and lay in my front garden for hours waiting for his supper. And I quickly realized not only was he friendly, but he needed me, And I him.

So he joined our family of 10+ cats and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. He loved all of the other cats, but particularly he loved my orange cat Sam, he would lay with him in the window all day long. He even started copying my other cats and licking Sam's face and following him wherever he went! They were so cute together!

Scruffy originally came to me in bad shape, he was very emaciated and had alot of health issues. He had a "different" looking face and was very "scruffy," hence the name Scruffy. But through a series of vet appts and his #1 fan Dr.Cox, he soon got better and thrived the next 2 years I had him. He loved to eat human food, his favorite meal was KFC, and I made sure to give it to him his last night with me!

Unfortunately Scruffy developed kidney disease and it worsened overtime, and that's how he passed. But if it weren't for the love from me, my family, and the family at CVC in West Hartford, CT...he would have lived forever. I am sharing a picture of him at his best....plump and happy.
