Dear Missy,

I remember the first time I saw this picture of you, I knew I loved you already. You were adopted by a friend of mine when you were a pup. Then she told me that you would have to find a new home because you couldn’t stay in her new apartment. I went out to see you and you jumped on my lap and stayed there the entire visit. The following week I picked you up and told my husband you were going to stay with us “awhile”. We laughed about it later because we both loved you instantly. You chewed up clothes, buried the chew toys I bought you, and chased “Tommy Lee” (our cat), your brother, constantly. He waited for you every morning, and every night at bedtime, for the daily romps around the house.

I always called you my little farm dog, because you rode in the truck with me everywhere. You were so smart, and I marveled at how it took only once for me to say, “get in the back seat” and you did it every time. You loved your nightly walk with your dad, and would jump on my lap when you came home to tell me about each adventure. I used to joke that you were your dad’s dog, because you would take my place on the couch all the time and love up to him for pets. Your brother, Cisco, our weiner dog, is older and didn’t run with you as much as Tommy Lee, but he loved to sunbathe in the yard with you or go for ice cream in the truck.

No matter what was going on, you had a sweet disposition and gentle kisses. You loved everyone and everyone that met you said how sweet and accepting you were. I vowed you would never be cold or afraid or hungry, and you would have a warm soft bed to sleep in. Never again would you have to change homes- you were with us forever.

We took you into our lives and it seemed like you had always been there. You were with us just short of a year and it seems like a lifetime. We want to thank Dr. Lisa and the staff at Bear Paw Vet for all they did for you. They tried so hard but God had another plan. Our thanks also to the WSU College of Vet Medicine, for the opportunity to have you remembered always. You were an angel in fur, with a lesson to all to love to the very fullest. I will see you on “Rainbow Bridge,” my baby girl. We love you always.

Mom, Dad, Cisco, and Tommy Lee
