Comments: Puka was a very special pup. Always happy and friendly. I often called her ‘happiness of dog’. ’She always had a smile and loved everyone. She was smart and clever. A natural at agility she took 2 ribbons without any training at all. She came to us shortly after Ann had a severe stroke and was with us through the lonely days of COVID. She went everywhere with us. We had a beach house and oh how she would run and run. Puka made friends and won hearts wherever she went. She was gentle, cuddly, playful. She didn’t mind being handled by children, or being dressed in costumes. She loved to snuggle. One day she was attacked by a pit bull in the beach approach parking lot. My instincts took hold and I opened that dog’s jowls to release Puka. Luckily the vet stayed open and treated Puka right away. Only then did she become a bit wary in approaching other dogs. I’ve never loved a dog as much as I loved this dear soul. We miss her so.
