Zuzu

A donation was made in memory of Zuzu by Doctors and Staff of the Redwood Animal Hospital on Jul 27, 2009.

In many ways, Zuzu was a very bizarre Basset Hound. She was mostly white, with red spots that matched my hair color. She maintained a healthy weight throughout her life, unlike the overweight Bassets more commonly seen. She always got compliments on how she was a "feminine looking" Basset Hound. Although she didn't physically look like her breed, she howled like one, drooled like one, was incredibly stubborn, and slept at leave 20 hours a day, just like every other Basset. We adopted Zuzu when she was about a year old, although we had known her since she was a little 10 week old puppy. I was a 7 year old, only child, so I regarded Zuzu as my little sister, my bed buddy. Even before we owned Zuzu, I had a passion for animals, with a special interest with dogs. My passion for animals only continued to blossom after owning her. While in high school, I was fortunate enough to get a job at Redwood Animal Hospital, in the Seattle area, which was Zuzu's veterinary clinic. She had been a client there for 10 years, so many of them already knew her, after all, she was a strange (but adorable) Basset. The last few months of her life, she was diagnosed with splenic sarcoma which eventually spread to her pancreas. Barely a week after my high school graduation, on June 18th, 2009, we were unable to manage her pain and had to let her go. She was always well loved, always loving, and always my sister.

Love, Katrina.

Katrina A.
