Owen

A donation was made in memory of Owen by Melissa Tucker on Feb 17, 2012.

There are pets that touch our hearts and there are pets that make an impact. Owen was not only our Fur Child, he was a teacher, a care taker, a lover, a hugger, a wrestler, an inspirer, a greeter, a floor cleaner, a head nudger, a supermodel, king of the dog park, a son, a brother, Daddy's Boy, and a soul mate.

Owen brought unconditional love and balance to life. He also educated many veterinarians and helped create long lasting friendships along the way.

Owen Meany (named after the book A Prayer for Owen Meany) was born August 27, 2002. In 2005 he developed a severe nose bleed that wouldn't stop. He has visited experts at University of Wisconsin, University of Pennsylvania and Washington State University. In 2010, Cornell University confirmed that Owen had Scott's Syndrome, a blood clotting disorder with no cure.

In 2007 and 2010 he underwent two successful an embolizations in one of his nasal cavities. The procedure was successful!

Even though Owen did not pass away from this disorder, we are so grateful for the teaching hospitals around the US and for the great minds that came together to provide the best care for him! It gave us many extended years with this amazing son! We have so many incredible doctors to thank such as, Dr. Melissa Tucker, Dr. Chick Weisse, Dr. Brian Maran, Dr. Victoria Ochoa, Dr. Jennifer Kaae, Dr. Mike Newall, Dr. Angela Reed, Dr. Chris Roth, and all of the amazing veterinary students, clinicians and technicians.

Owen showed us how to enjoy the simple things. He taught us many lessons in trust, affection, and how to embrace every moment in life.

Owen is at Rainbow Bridge and being watched over by Terri (his adopting mother). He is happy, free and no doubt chasing the shadows of grasshoppers. We smile at the scene.

In memory and honor of Owen, we want to thank you for being such a great friend, fan, cheerleader, supporter, prayer sender, thought giver, and well wisher for this great son of ours. May he nudge up next to you in your sleep and give you a lick on your cheek to show how much he loves you.

Comments: Owen Tinsley was our next door neighbor in Fort Atkinson, WI. I had the honor and joy of taking care of Owen and his furry and feathered siblings when Perry was gone or running late. I always took my Sheltie, Tammy, to visit with me and she thoroughly enjoyed visiting and romping with Owen. What a gentle, sweet dog he was. He was always there when I needed a "big dog fix." I'd throw my arms around his neck and he would let me cuddle until my Owen-need was fulfilled. He loved peanut-butter Kongs, especially when Perry left them in the freezer. He "baby sat" dogs that Perry fostered or took care of over weekends. I love Owen's memory and rejoice that he is with Terri at the Rainbow Bridge. I am thrilled that he played such a wonderful role in my life. Blessings to Owen's memory and to Perry and Hillary for being such good parents. Love, Mabel
