We found Gracie living in an unfortunate circumstance, she was the runt of a litter of English Pointers and was dehydrated and unable to keep food down. My husband said we can't leave her like this, so there she was sick in my lap and on her way home to meet her new family. Gracie was sick for a few days but came out of it well and with more energy than we had anticipated. She had a sister a black lab/border collie mix to play and compete with. Gracie was small but had a large heart and was always there to cuddle and make life a little less stressful. Gracie was my confidant in good times and in bad, when my baby was stillborn and I returned home she would lay with me in bed and not move until I was done crying. We found out that Gracie had Addison's disease and tried medicine and steroids for months to no avail. My beautiful pointer was sick and unable to get better, and now I would lay with her until she was done crying. The last months of Gracies life were spent by my side and protecting the new baby I was carrying. The passing of Gracie came two short days before the birth of my daughter Sawyer. I like to think that Gracies passing was a way for her to always be a guardian angel to my daughter, and that hopefully some of her spirit belongs to her to.
