Badger came to our family in February of 2000. She was 18 months old and a very well behaved young dog. The gentleman that raised her had to move and his new job situation wouldn’t allow time needed for a pup. He brought her over one day for my boys to look at and to check out where we lived. He liked the two acres we lived on and sadly let her go to us. Badger immediately showed her talents by catching robins in the cherry trees, it was amazing to watch. Later the squirrels caught her attention and she chased them all over. The squirrels tormented her daily. Badger loved to hunt birds and with 3 teenage boys she got a lot of time in the fields. Badger traveled with us to see two of the boys in Montana as they went to school in Bozeman she loved the ride in the pickup to see different areas. Badger rode with us in the mountains in the winter when we went 4 wheeling in the snow; she would get out and run on her tireless legs. My wife and I worked as volunteer camp hosts at Priest Lake on Kalispell Island for 7 summers, a month at a time. Badger was there with us as we said, “protecting us from the dangerous squirrels on the Island”. She greeted the campers with a tail wag and wanted everyone to scratch her behind the ears. Where ever I was or my wife or kids she wanted to be there too. On her last trip to Montana in December of 2011 she got sick, she toughed out the ride back to Walla Walla and struggled for the next 2 months and finally passed on the 28th of Feb 2012. Badger is missed by all that new her.
We want to thank the Veterinarians in Bozeman Montana “Hardaway Vet Clinic” and especially want to thank Drs. Acock and Cox at Mill creek Veterinary Medicine for the care of our pets for the past 25 years; they have done an excellent Job.
