Lucy came to us in early July 2009. An adolescent girl with no ID and in full heat. She and our male Australian shepherd mix, Joe Dog, made 16 puppies born on October 2. Lucy was a fine Mama. She gave her puppies steady love and attention. We kept two male pups and for a decade we were family. We ate, slept, travelled in the car, visited two and four-footed friends, walked and ran and prayed together. We all feel the absence of Lucy-her great heart and gentle soul. She is Jesus’s dog now.
