In 2003 Princess Zoli Callais came into our life. Little did we know the impact she would make on us and our life. We lived in a condo and found that restricting, so we built her a house on Camano Island, WA. She was 1 year old the day we moved in. Over the next 11 years, our life was Zoli. Neighborhood and beach walks everyday, at least twice a day. She was never kenneled and rarely left for long. We took her everywhere that was possible. Everyone knew her and loved her! When she was a baby I read an article that was called, “Schnauzers, the dog with the human brain.” It didn’t take long for us to discover how true that was. Zoli was brilliant! We talked to her like a child and she understood everything. I could write a book about our life with her, how sweet and beautiful she was, how much fun we had with her, and how she constantly made us laugh. She had a lot of medical problems, but we gave her all the care she needed. We knew months ahead that she was not doing well, and we thought we were mentally prepared. How can you be prepared to lose the love of your life? As it turned out we were devastated, and we still are. I have never felt so much pain and loss! Our hearts are broken! She was our child, she made us a family! Our home is filled with memories, but there will never be another Zoli.
