Our beloved Bailey Michael Gilson passed away on September 20, 2012 following a very brief, but courageous, battle with osteosarcoma in both back legs. He was truly a remarkable Labrador who was an extremely faithful and devoted companion. He was the center of our world! When he was home with Darla during the day, he was devoted to her 100%. He was her protector and best friend. No matter where she was in the house or yard, he made sure he was positioned where he could keep an eye on her. When Dayle came home from work at night, Bailey would be by the front door with his nose in the crack impatiently waiting for it to open. Only when Dayle walked through that door did he feel comfortable relieving his caretaking duties for the day. He and Dayle shared a tight bond with their love of bird hunting. His spirit, love, and devotion helped him conquer any aches and pains he may have felt from those long days of hunting. He did not ask for much in return – a treat now and then, a scratch here and there, and long moments of affection. Bailey was most content when the three of us were together. He did not like being separated, even for a short while, from either of us. We miss looking into those sincere and loving eyes of his. We miss his presence around the house. Simply stated, we miss him dearly!
We are grateful to the staff at Desert Veterinary Clinic in Richland and the staff at the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine who took such good care of him, especially during his last months of life. We could not have asked for more.
RIP Bailey . . . WE LOVE YOU! You will forever be in our hearts and minds.
