Fifteen years ago I found Baxter in a pet shop in Palm Spring, CA. At 7 weeks he was taken from his mom, placed in a small box on a big truck with hundreds of other puppies and shipped to this pet store from a Missouri Puppy mill. He was the only puppy delivered to this store that survived.. all the others were so sick they had to be put to sleep.
I had recently lost my two precious dogs and wandered into the shop thinking maybe I would find a quiet little girl Bison to fill the gap in my heart. At one end of the store was indeed a tiny female Bison; I headed right for her. At the other end of the store I could see, and hear, an obnoxious, crazy little Maltese leaping into the air, dancing on his hind legs, making the worst barking sounds I had ever heard. And he continued dancing, leaping and yowling until I picked him up and took him with me to his forever home. I never once in fifteen years regretted that decision. He was my little cuddly buddy, my constant entertainment and companion, my little love, until the day I had to say good-bye. I will always miss him and always remember the joy and love he brought into my life. I don't know what I will do without him. Fly free; be healthy and happy my little Baxter You will always be in my heart until I see you again.
