Max

A donation was made in memory of Max by Dr. Rance Sellon on Aug 05, 2010.

Max chose us to be his humans in November 1999 when we were visiting the Moscow animal shelter. His littermates were barking, running in circles and chewing on the fence, but Max very calmly sat between us and gazed at us with that intense stare that we never did learn to resist. We’ve shared many adventures since then – camping, boating, fishing, chasing squirrels – and Max brought joy to every day of the eleven years he was with us.

Max was a sweet, smart boy who often surprised us with his intelligence and sense of humor. He taught us that a day is better faced with a wagging tail, and that a good belly rub can greatly improve the lives of both the dog receiving it and the human giving it. When he got sick he taught us about adaptation, perseverance and strength, all while maintaining his good humor. He inspired us, challenged us, and made us laugh daily.

We’re so grateful to the doctors and staff at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and at Alpine Animal Hospital for their wonderful care of our boy. With their assistance we were able to enjoy a precious few more good months with Max that cancer would otherwise have stolen from us, including celebrating his eleventh birthday and spending three glorious weeks camping and fishing in Montana. We miss our boy, but our hearts are filled with the joy of so many happy memories.
