Dakota

A donation was made in memory of Dakota by Dolores Oakley on Nov 25, 2010.

Dakota was born in our hearts when we adopted her in Autumn of 2000. Somewhere between the age of one or two years, she was rescued from an abusive environment. When we brought her home she was in rough shape but we could tell she had a sweet disposition.

Dakota enjoyed being with people and would bark to make sure she received an appropriate greeting which often required a scratch on the backside. Dakota was with us for 10 years and battled two different cancers in the last two years of her life.

We are thankful for the time that Dakota spent with us and will always remember her as an important member of our family. We are also thankful for all of the doctors, technicians and support staff that made it possible for Dakota to enjoy the best quality of life while she fought cancer.

We would especially like to thank the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine for Dr. Tim Kraabel of Lien Animal Clinic and for Dr. Christie Anderson and the students of the Veterinary Medicine program. They all knew Dakota as a member of our family but cared for her as if she were a member of theirs.

Comments: Dakota will always have a special place in my heart and memories. She took her role of Office Dog seriously - even during her illness. You knew what time it was by her location. She was wonderful at appreciating the moment. Dakota graciously leaned against you with her wiggly butt, displayed her warm belly and tilted her head for ear scratches. She showed immediate appreciation of the shared touch - which was mutual.
