Sophie

A donation was made in memory of Sophie by Barbara Green on Jun 24, 2009.

Sophie came into my life at the age of 6 years, when her breeder/owner became ill and had to give up some of his poodles. I will never understand how he could give up Sophie!

When I arrived at the foster home where she was being cared for, the lady in charge told me Sophie was the first poodle who had not taken to her. Apparently she did nothing but try to escape when taken outside. I thought to myself, "Of course! She's trying to find her owner and can't understand why she's been left."

I was invited to sit on the couch and just be there for a bit. Sophie and I "communicated" across the room and soon she came at my invitation to sit next to me on the couch. I gave her a small piece of cheese (her favorite treat) and she laid her head on my shoulder. Instant LOVE and bonding. I was smitten!

Sophie shared her soul with me for the next eight years. She was a devoted friend, confidant, soulmate. My life has been enriched beyond measure knowing her. She will always live in my heart.

Comments: Sophie was an elegant lady, elegance only surpassed by her sweetness. She was also earthy, loving everything that came her way. They say that we attract companions that mirror our best. Chela and Sophie certainly did that. Richard
