We adopted Firey Jo and Shadow through Lab Rescue of the Potomac back in Maryland. They had been raised together and considered themselves siblings. They were the first dogs we shared our home with since we had been married, and did we hit the jackpot! Firey overcame separation anxiety and a strong prey drive for our kitty to become a wonderful, sweet, loyal friend. She beat cancer and handled a move to Las Vegas like a trooper but ultimately couldn't fight off debilitating arthritis. Our wonderful vet Dr. Hucke paid a house call just shy of her 13th birthday to ease her pain once and for all. One of our favorite memories is her belly rubs trick, whereby she flipped over for a belly rub then waited until the moment you sat down to flip over again for another. Sometimes she would repeat this process 4-5 times. We'd give anything to rub that soft belly just one more time.
