My daughter brought home Nya, probably without permission, some time around 2002. She named him after some sort of African drum (nyabhingi or something like that) but Nya is what stuck. Unfortunately, everyone just assumed Nya was female and we constantly had to correct the receptionist at the vet's when we'd take him in. Nya was a very loving cat who lived to be 17 years old. He is greatly missed.
