Abby

A donation was made in memory of Abby on Jun 17, 2015.

This is Abby…She came to us at 18 months old from the Spokane Golden Retriever Rescue program…She was a victim of a divorce…but it was love at first sight when my husband and I saw her…We had just lost our 4 year old Golden to an illness so we welcomed her with open hearts.

The first time she entered our home she ran into the living room and leaped on the davenport checking out the softness and then headed for the bedroom where she ran across the bed. Jumping off… she then looked at me with her head cocked and said “Yep, this will work just fine”.

She loved her 3 mile a day walks for 12 years walking thru the gardens of Manito Park and the beautiful South hill neighborhood. I was told after she passed that we were icons on the block.
Abby and I met a lot of people on our walks as everyone always wanted to pet her.

We used to play catch on the basement steps, Abby at the top and myself at the bottom. I would throw the ball to her and she would catch it and drop it back down the stairs to me…

She blew out her legs pulling the kids on the ice skating pond one winter so I took her into Valley Veterinary clinic where they operated on her and gave her new legs which lasted beautifully the rest of her life… I have enclosed a picture of the happy moment…

She knew what time of day I would be arriving home and would wait for me by the door anticipating her nightly walk. I have enclosed a picture…

On bath day she would stand on top of a recycle bin and then climb into the sink all by herself…
She was extremely gentle…Not one of her 20 stuffed toys had a missing eye or nose…

Nearing the last days of her life, I shortened her walk to one mile but she let me know by lying down and resisting to move that she wanted to go her normal route…. So I understood what she was saying to me and called my husband to come pick us up when she couldn’t go any further…

I miss my best friend…
