Domino
A donation was made in memory of Domino by the doctors and staff of Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic on Nov 25, 2016.
Domino was my mother Leila's cat for 24 yrs, and my fathers cat as well, for 9 yrs of his life, in Connecticut. Domino was found in an alley right outside my parents apt.in 1992.She was very little , especially so as a kitten, and had some severe eye problems . Mom ended up having several eye operations throughout the years for Domino , and in 2014 Domino had one eye removed .Domino was such a trooper, when she came out of surgery , at the age of 23, she hit the deck running. Without a misstep she navigated the vet clinic floor as though she still had both eyes. When Blondie, moms other cat died, a little over a year before her , Domino slept next to a stuffed cat on the floor that looked like Blondie. This went on for several months after Blondie died.; it seemed Domino was genuinely grieving for him. Domino was also one of my mothers six cats who were found surrounding my father on the kitchen floor when he died of a heart attack six weeks after 9-11.
i inherited Domino after Leila passed away May this year.I had been living at moms apt with her since she was first hospitalized in September 2015, to take care of Domino. I ended up staying for 8 months, until Leila went into the hospital again, and then a rehab center where she left this world.Domino became a wonderful source of solace for me during those next 6 months , even with all her medicines and fluids, and kitty litter problems, she carried on and seemed to really want to live and thrive.Domino survived thyroid cancer, renal failure, was mostly deaf, one eye, yet she was one of the most present cats I have had or lived with. In the last few months I slept next to her on the couch until she fell asleep and then I went into the bedroom. Domino continued to play with her toys, and jumped up on the chair, and couch ,up until a week before we put her to sleep at the age of 24 years and 9 months , just a little over 110 years in cat life. What an angel. A few days before she left this world she sat and stared at the desk chair where my mother always sat, and in my mind I could see the afterimage of my mother sitting there. Leila came to be with Domino at home which she could not do while she was alive, and take her to her new home beyond the rainbow bridge, where I hope to see the both of them when I depart this world myself.
