On the evening of August 27, 2008 our beloved SHADOW left us for her place in doggie heaven. Her unexpected passing is a tremendous loss for us that words cannot describe. Our lives revolved around taking care of her after her tragic and sudden disability.
She was the runt of the litter and truly meant for a life with us. Her personality was curious, intelligent, loving, funny and most of all unique. She enjoyed being with people while camping, hunting or going on walks. She was fascinated by critters like squirrels but her favorite thing to do was keeping the cats out of her compound. Although the last 22 months of her life was spent disabled it did not squelch her spirit. She truly lived up to what she was as a therapy dog. Her recent visit to the MDA camp was her last chance to meet with families and do what she did best. She cooled her feet in the nearby creek and worked her nose to try and capture every smell there was in the woodsy outdoors.
The loss of SHADOW is heart breaking for us. As we struggle to understand why such a special dog was given the life she was it seems apparent that we will move forward with a better understanding of what limitless love is. That is what SHADOW had for us and we for her.
