Nickie was a very helpful dog, he would help me bring in the groceries from the car. I would open the house door and tell Nickie that I needed his help and he would run out to the car. I would give him a plastic bag with just a couple of items in it and he would carry it into the house. They never made it to the kitchen, but that was ok. He also would tell us when it was time to feed him, he would stand in front of us and give us a little bark! He would help my husband wash his face in the morning by getting up on the sink and try to lick my husband's face. We have 2 grown daughters and when I would tell him the "girls" are coming he would stand by the front window and wait, he loved them so! He had a lot of dislikes as well, he did not like skateboards, roller blades, loud cars, fire-works, thunder, car alarms or car horns. That all was ok, we worked around them all. He also loved every human that he met, he would wag his tail and they would all have to give him a pet.
I could go on and on, Nickie was 9 yrs old and left us too soon. He was the best friend that I have ever had and is deeply missed. We talk about him and miss him each day. I truely appreicate the opportunity to send this story and picture to you, thank you Dr. Katz.
