Balto

A donation was made in memory of Balto on Apr 16, 2012.

Balto was given his name from the old disney movie Balto which featured a stray dog who would show up to houses at night, eat and be gone in the morning. Until we started letting him in that's what he did. He became little brother to our other two cats. We found out Balto had feline leukemia when we took him to get neutered and vaccinated. We were told that we would have up to a few years with him and that it wasn't going to be easy, or we could euthanize him. We refused to let that take a young kitties life away, if we could give him the chance to live out his last few years a happy kitty we were going to do it. He asked for treats, meowing in a tiny little kitten meow. He loved to scratch at the fridge for milk. He cuddled us on the couch and in bed. He loved to sit like a human. He was an energetic cat and we believe he was sent to us for a reason, I have always had the biggest soft spot for animals, and I couldn't turn him away. He turned out to be a cat no words can describe. He is greatly missed every day as well his brother whom we lost a year before Balto almost to the day. Toward the end Balto got tired, he was unable to produce enough hemoglobin for his body to get enough oxygen, so all he did was sleep. He had fulfilled his purpose in this life, and has since moved on. He is greatly missed, but what puts us at peace is that he was given a chance and we were able to do that for him.
