In the fall of 1989, a young calico kitty was found wandering the Wallingford Food Giant parking lot. Some guy picked her up and asked me to let her stay for a few days until he could take her home. He never came back, and twenty years later, she was still with me. Kikka, thank you for spending all those years with me, for always waiting at the door for me to come home. You were ever there, waiting for the door to open, sitting on my lap while I read, relaxing on the deck, lounging on the floor for a good tummy rub, rolling in the catnip plant, watching the birds through the window, purring up a storm, and curling up asleep on my feet.
