JoJo

A donation was made in memory of JoJo on May 11, 2015.

JoJo came to us through the Greyhound Pets of America Great Northwest chapter as our first foster at 2 years of age in December 2007. We already had adopted a retired racer at 17 months in July of that same year, her name is Bindy. Turned out that fostering was not for us! JoJo stole our hearts. She was severely underweight, had clearly been abused and was very scared. It didn't take long with the help of Bindy and lots of love from us along with the neighborhood children for her real personality to emerge.

In May of 2012 we noticed that she had swollen glands in her neck area. We called Dr. Bishop’s office and he saw her immediately. At his office he examined her and took fluid out of her glands. I will never forget his kindness when he called a few days later to give me the news that our JoJo had lymphoma. He referred us to a wonderful Oncologist Dr. Luminita Sarbu who after running tests gave us our options.

JoJo received the Madison Wisconsin Protocol for six months. She always went willingly and never complained about being poked and prodded along with being left at the vet’s all day once a week, always happy when daddy picked her up! She graduated chemo in December 2013 with flying colors. She was happy and healthy from the start of treatment for 18 months. Even after the blood work showed she was coming out of remission. We chose to try the lesser protocols working through all of them. She really didn’t start to slow down until half way through June of 2014. By early July we knew we had to stop treatments and let the disease take her over the bridge. Dr. Emily Truong from All Critters offered to come to our home so that JoJo could rest easy on her bed next to her Bindy along with her humans, Tom, Erin, Samantha, and I. In usual JoJo fashion she didn't make a peep. I held her until the last beat of her precious heart.

We will never forget our silly, loving, playful girl. I miss my constant shadow, always having an exuberant greeting when we arrive home along with always carrying a large stuffie, usually a hedgehog in her mouth only to follow with being herded by that wonderful needle nose to the treats! I will always see her running in the back yard, a JoJo blur as she goes by the kitchen window with a huge grin and her tongue wildly flapping. I will hear her beautiful singing (rooing) and her horsy noises that she made just before and during sleep. She is and will always be everywhere I look. Always loving, never complaining. My sweet JoJo (Lady Jo) will live within all of us always.

Kim M.
