Laci

A donation was made in memory of Laci on Oct 20, 2015.

Thank you for the very nice letter I received from you in memory of my Laci. Following is a small part of our story. Laci found us at a very difficult time in our life. My husband and I were staying at an RV park near where he was taking cancer treatment. We were so very blessed she came into our life, we called her our “Angel Dog.” Our Veterinary Dr. estimated her to be about six years old. Upon termination of my husband’s treatment program we returned to our home on the coast. We lost him a few months later. When he passed it was just Laci and I. We were inseparable. She became my life and I hers. All of our family lived several hundred miles away. A friend once told me as he was watching Laci and I play in the yard, “You and that dog are joined at the hip.” For the next six and a half years we spent our days together hiking trails and chasing squirrels, swimming, playing ball, walks on the beach, picking blackberries in the fall (she liked to pick her own), sharing a banana in the morning, rides in the car or just working in the yard and doing daily chores. She was always where she could see me. If I was in the house, she was in the
house, if I went outside, she went outside. When I went in the car, she went in the car. Soon after Laci came to us we made a platform between the front and back seat and put a big pillow on it; from that time on, she was always right beside me. We lived in the country so when I walked down the road to get the mail, she walked down the road to get the mail and grazed along the way. If I went to visit the neighbors, she went to visit the neighbors. That’s just the way our life was. We loved our snuggle time in early morning hours before we got up and later times during the day when we would snuggle in our swing on the back porch or snuggle on the couch by the wood stove on rainy days. Laci and I took several road trips to visit family. We stayed at Motels on our way and had many memorable and fun travel adventures. When Laci lost her hearing we had to adjust to a few changes in our life. We worked on some sign language and she learned very quickly. She was so very easy to please. All she needed was to be with and loved by her Mama and I couldn’t have loved her more. It made me so happy to take care of her and love her and give her a healthy happy life. I loved giving her baths and pampering her. In return she lived to please me and love and take care of me. Laci was a very beautiful girl. I mostly always knew what she wanted when she would come and rest her head on me and look at me with her soft brown eyes filled with love for her Mama. I could go on endlessly about how special and happy every day was with Laci in my life. There were trips to our veterinary office from time to time over the years when she would become sick. Everyone there loved Laci and they took extremely good care of her. She was 13 ½ years old when a rapidly growing tumor took her away from me. I try not to think about the painful day when my Laci had to leave me. I held her close to me all day to the very end of our time together. I have so many precious memories of her but I know the pain I feel of losing her will never go away. I will miss my beautiful Laci forever. My sincere appreciation to Pet Memorial for posting our picture and giving me the opportunity to share with others a part of our story, of mine and Laci’s happy years together.
Thank you ever so much, Colleen
