In 1993, while out walking their dog, my parents found a black and white puppy in an empty field; how they noticed her was her ears, which were perked up like two antennas. They took her home and found out that she had been eating field mice to stay alive (they found this out when they fed her some milk soaked bread, which made her sick, and out came a mouse). I came home a month later and there was an instant connection between me and Jackie. At that time, she was basically ears and stilts. Over the next couple of months, she quickly grew. Jackie did have some health issues such as seizures, which were controlled with medicine.
Jackie loved being in the backyard to chase the hawks away, chase the frisbee/ball (and never returning it), and going for walks and car rides. She never liked being alone, hated thunderstorms, and was scared of fireworks.
In 2001, we moved to Butte, Montana and met the doctors and staff of Amherst Animal Hospital. The move to Butte was hard to adjust to because of the fireworks for the 4th of July, and the thunderstorms. Things got better when, in 2006, my other dog, Molly B, came to live with us. Jackie and and Molly became good friends.
Jackie had a long and love-filled life of 16 years.
