Samantha ("Sam")

A donation was made in memory of Samantha ("Sam") on May 08, 2015.

We adopted Samantha ("Sam") at 9 weeks old and it was meant to be from the start. Sam was the only puppy out of a litter of 9 who was sitting quietly among her siblings and watching our family very closely. We knew we wanted her, and thankfully she was the only puppy who hadn’t been selected for adoption. Sam was a German Shepherd/Husky/Rottweiler mix.

Sam lived a wonderful and active life. She enjoyed being with our other dog Harley, going for evening jogs, camping, swimming, chasing tennis balls, and her absolute favorite of going with us for snowshoeing trips in the mountains and playing catch with the snowballs.

Sam was a very patient dog, especially as we began bringing children into our family. We have many pictures and memories of the kids using her as a giant pillow to lie on when watching TV, or using her as a step stool when trying to climb on furniture as toddlers. She enjoyed spending time with them, especially curled up in thier tents and forts set up around the house.

Unfortunately, as Sam grew older she suffered her rear joints declining and becoming severely arthritic. After making a very painful decision, Sam was put to sleep on December 9, 2014 at 13 ½ years old. She will forever be missed and was a huge part of our family.
