Bella

A donation was made in memory of Bella by the doctors and staff at Loyal Family Veterinary Hospital on Nov 25, 2025.

I got Bella in 2011, 8 months after I moved from Brazil to Davis, CA. I went to visit a breeder just to meet and see if I'd like to get a puppy in the near future, but I left her place with little Bella. I just could not resist her little face. She has been my best friend ever since. We lived in California for a bit, then we moved to Canada and drove from Sacramento to Toronto, just the two of us. We loved our little road trips. We took lots of them - we drove across Canada, from Toronto to Sacramento, we drove to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, LA, you name it! I met my husband when Bella was 7 years old - she chose him, even before I did! He was the best spare human she could ever ask for. You see, I was her favorite person in the whole entire world, and he knew it, he was just really proud to be second favorite! Bella saw me go from a very irresponsible young adult to building a family with my husband and adding two furry siblings: Waffles and Pretzel. They are way bigger than Bella was, but she didn't care! She was the sassiest little lady out there! She did not like other dogs getting close to her, which was really funny - her sisters are german shepherd and pitbull mixes, but little overweight cocker spaniel was the one we worried about biting other dogs in the face! She LOVED her humans - official and spare - very much. She loved people in general, especially if they had treats. She would put her face inside people's bags to search for food! Everybody that knew Bella loved her, she made so many friends along the way and I was touched from all the memories I heard in the past few days. One of my favorite ones: I taught online during the pandemic, and my students always asked, at the end of a zoom lecture to see Bella, she was a fan favorite! One student even mentioned once that Bella is what carried them through "zoom university". She was 14 years old, she had a long, beautiful life and I will miss her every day!
