Scott

A donation was made in memory of Scott by the doctors and staff at North End Pet Hospital on Apr 21, 2025.

My cat Scott was loud and proud, and the older he got the more he had to say. He had a lot to share about a lot of things, especially when I was on the phone. Friends would routinely offer up a “Hi Scott!” when we were chatting and Scott wanted to muscle in on the conversation. He was not known for his subtlety. He shuffled off this mortal coil when he was closing in on 20, and the house is eerily silent in his absence. I was surprised and honored when I learned the good folks at North End Pet Hospital in Tacoma had donated to the WSU Pet Memorial Program in his honor. Scott had spent a good deal of time there over the years and had received such professional and compassionate care in their hands, especially from Dr. Virginia Wright, and Dr. Anthony Brown (a WSU Vet Med grad.) As a Coug myself, I was thrilled to have Scott memorialized in this program through their efforts. Scott lived with me for close to two decades and had a huge impact on my life. I loved him for his constancy, his companionship, his ability to make me laugh out loud, and the fact he didn’t care if I gained weight. As long as he was fed on a regular basis, his demands were modest. When I was sick, holed up in bed with a good book, he would be laminated by my side. Curled up like a large orange Frisbee, he’d remain in place for hours, a warm and comforting presence. He remained a warm and comforting presence until the very end. I miss him, and the constant background chatter. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of his life for so long. Rest in peace, my most faithful companion.

Marcia G.

Comments: I have many happy memories of this big fuzz baby. He was a sweet, gentleman-of-a-cat, with a set of pipes louder than any other kitty I've ever met (and I've met a LOT of cats!). I appreciated his contributions to our team zoom calls and overhearing his conversations with Marcia - they always had a lot to say to each other. One my my favorite memories of him was during a visit when he came up to say hello as I was getting ready for the day. I couldn't help giving him a good round of scritches as he happily rolled around on the floor. (His purr sounded more like an idling semi engine than a cat!) Whenever I tried to pull away for a second, he'd howl at me for more. By the end, I had a fresh pair of mittens from all the cat hair clinging to my fingers. I'm really gonna miss this guy and all the stories about him. I hope he and Zelda are off romping through gardens in the great beyond. RIP, Scott.
