Ima Go Roman, foaled 4/30/1984, known as Crescent, died 7/18/2024.
I grew up a horse crazy kid, longing for any sort of equine companionship I could find. Growing up in the city motivated me to work towards a horse friendly environment and at age 28 finally realized my dream. By the age of five Crescent had gone through an auction, and then was abandoned at the local trainers for her explosive bucking anytime her owner came on the property. When I met her she pinned her ears and raked her teeth back and forth across the stall bars. Irrationally, I fell head over heels in love with her. She was the most beautiful horse I ever saw. I began taking lessons on her and while the trainer taught me much, nothing can compare with what that horse taught me. While she was rather intolerant, opinionated and a little cranky we became the best of friends. She faithfully saw me through all the rough places I traveled in life and never told me a single lie. She showed me how to be tough, how to never quit, how to keep one's dignity, how to keep promises. She was always elegant, sensitive, responsive and ready for what came her way. She had style and made me look better than I deserved. She even played matchmaker when Mr. Right came along.
She was my true friend and companion for 35 years. She was a most extravagant gift from God.
