Lucy Van Pelt

A donation was made in memory of Lucy Van Pelt by Doctors and Staff of the Burien Veterinary Hospital on Sep 22, 2010.

I had just lost a similar looking tabby cat and although I still had others at home, and went to the grocery store one afternoon to get some litter box supplies, I was astounded to see a woman standing outside the grocery store with this little tabby cat sitting in the cart, looking very poised. I could tell that this was a female, no doubt not spayed, and one that someone wanted to get rid of. Although I had no plan to adopt at that moment, I stopped and asked the woman about the cat. She told me, "My boyfriend wants me to get rid of her". I was annoyed, as I would NEVER do that. I inquired about what veterinary care (if any) she had, and the woman gave me the name of a clinic in the area where she claimed that the cat had been checked and vaccinated. I knew this little girl needed a good home, and only hoped that she would be easy to integrate into my cat household.

She went home with me, and as I drove, she put her paws up on the dashboard and calmly looked around. She had no trouble adjusting to my existing cat household, and I loved her dearly for 17 years. She ended up having many physical ailments, all treated admirably by Dr. Tram V. Le at Burien Veterinary Hospital. Finally, it was clear that she was suffering with so many serious conditions, and I was forced to make the decision to euthanize her. I miss her so much, as she was a sweet girl, and my constant companion. She snuggled up next to me whenever I was in bed, and followed me from room to room. She never complained nor fought with any other cats, and was just a dear girl. Her picture is attached(with her little catnip bag).
