Luke

A donation was made in memory of Luke by Luke's Mom on Aug 04, 2017.

Luke was born on 2/26/13 two days before I lost my other springer, Buster, at 15 1/2 years of age.I wasn't looking for another dog, but the vet that had helped me with Buster called when he learned he had passed and told me that I should think about getting another dog. That night, I searched my area for breeders and found Luke. He was the last pup left of an 11 pup litter and the only reason I even inquired about him was that his mama's name was Dorothy and that was my mom's name. I always felt Luke was meant for me, but I didn't find out why until his 3rd year of life. One night just short of his 3rd birthday, my boy fell off the bed and went into a seizure. A few weeks later he had another and after much testing he was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. No matter what medicine or procedures we tried, Luke kept having seizures. The more he had, the more violent they were, the harder it was for him to come out of them, and the more medicine he was put on. Nothing worked. Finally, his battled ended on May 6, 2017. He had two seizures that morning one right after the other He exhibited head bunting, a sign of brain damage, and the seizures were so awful. It just broke my heart. I had to make a difficult decision to let him go. I know that Luke was my special guy. He came to me because he knew I would take care of him. You see, my mother was epileptic and battled the same awful disease. Luke had 3 wonderful years of life. His fourth year was not pretty nor enjoyable. He was an awesome, graceful, swimmer, a crazy squirrel chaser, but most of all my buddy and pal. I will miss him deeply, but I know he is running free now, chasing the butterflies with no nasty seizures to slow him down. Rest in peace my beautiful boy. I will miss you greatly. Your mom.
