Danke was born in the summer of 1998, when our daughter Nellie was just about to enter the 8th grade. Danke raised Nellie. She taught Nellie how to be responsible, how to deal with frustration, and then how to be honorable. After Nellie went to college and beyond, Danke ran our horse farm, Meadowland, as overseer and caretaker. She was an avid hiker and snow dog, comfortable in the mountains and the water.
Danke was never sick, never despondent, never depressed, and up until the day she died of an acutely ruptured spleen due to a lymphosarcoma, she was active and responsible. She is sorely missed, and will always be remembered with awe and love.
