In Memoriam

Hazel Marie Mason-Welton May 5, 2003 – July 14, 2020

Hazel came to us from rural Kitsap County in May of 2004. It was a happy day for our family, and for the next 16 years she graced our lives with her intelligence, sweetness, craftiness, and determination. She and her sister were a contrast in personalities, with Hazel definitely the brains of the operation. She loved to sit in the sun and was very insistent when she felt it was lap time. When she had to move indoors full time, we watched her work every possible angle to effect escape, and she was successful far more frequently than we would have liked. Her home was the one place she was happy, and we imagine that for her, paradise must very much resemble her basket on the wicker chest in our family room. We miss her more than we can say. Hazel is survived by her devoted staff, Lisa Mason and Ann, Ellie, and Emily Welton; her sister, Harriet Jane Mason-Welton; and no doubt relatives too numerous to count on a farm in Kitsap. She blessed our lives, and we hope that we blessed hers equally.
