Sammy

A donation was made in memory of Sammy by Drs. White, Remsburg, Martzall and staff at Lower Columbia Veterinary Clinic on Oct 24, 2017.

Sammy came into our lives in late 2004 as a small under nourished kitten of maybe only 10 weeks. She was part of a feral litter that resided in a field not far from us but found our older male cat irresistible and as a result became part of our lives. She was a struggle as a feral kitten, we held her in our arms and fed her each day until she was strong enough to eat and drink on her own and trust us. She only came out from her safe place to eat and be with us in the first few weeks. Eventually she and Rodney our older male become inseparable as he took over the responsibilities of mom and forever playmate.

After Rodney’s passing in 2014 she became ill, mostly from a broken heart, but other abnormalities as well, we thought we were going to lose her then, but she recovered and we were able to enjoy 3 more years with her until this past summer when she could not overcome the cancer that took her from us.

There were really only two people in her life that she trusted being a feral cat, that was myself and my husband, and to the two of us she was so much more than a pet. She was a constant companion always wanting to be in our laps and beds next to us and wanting to be close. We miss her so much, but know that the joy and love she brought to our lives will never be replaced or forgotten. The only thing that makes any of this any easier is that we know we gave her a safe, happy and loving home where she lived the best life she could have ever hoped for.
