Maggie was the most wonderful Labrador retriever and a deeply beloved member of the Durham family. She loved everyone—people and pets alike—and greeted each day with joy. Whether welcoming family members home, meeting new friends, or reconnecting with familiar ones, Maggie’s happiness was unmistakable.

She loved walks around the neighborhood with her family, no matter the weather—heavy rain, snow, or hot sunny days. She also adored visits to the dog park, especially the ones with water where she could swim. Playing catch was one of her great joys, and she could stay focused for long stretches—unless, of course, another dog caught her attention. Her favorite pastime was retrieving in the water, and she would out-swim every dog we ever met to get the ball, sometimes even when it wasn’t hers.

Maggie was wonderful with the boys as they grew up. She patiently tolerated being dressed up, endless games, and all kinds of playtime activities. She was a steady comfort during hard moments—when a haircut had gone wrong or when going to school felt overwhelming. She was the subject of many essays, poems, and school projects, a reflection of just how much she was loved.

In the last months of her life, Maggie slowed down and couldn’t walk as much, but she never complained—even when she began to struggle physically. She faced everything with quiet grace.

Maggie will be remembered as the most loving, positive, and energetic dog we could ever have hoped for. We miss her so much, and we will love her always.
