I have had animals in my life for as long as I can remember. I simply can’t imagine living without them. So naturally I have lost a good number of them in death and each one hurt.
Losing this one, my Roxy girl, was the hardest and most painful thing I have had to deal with in my life…. She was just that special. We had a bond like no other.
She would toss her head and woof at me – her special way of talking to me. During her waking moments she very seldom took her eyes off of me. She was my shadow.
It has been very painful for my husband also. She would be so happy to see him when he came home from work, always had a goofy smile and wagged her stubby little tail excitedly.
She was the most loyal companion, always stayed by our sides when we would go for walks or camping.
We found out a couple of years ago she had hip dysplasia. We bought her a wheelchair right away so we would have it for when she needed it. We did have her try it out and she accepted it right away. Unfortunately we lost her before she could even use it. So now we have a new chair we don’t need.
Our vet doesn’t really understand what went wrong, nor do we. Something about her body attacking her red blood cells. Some kind of immune disease. Our vet fought hard to save her, but nothing worked. She wasn’t quite eight years old – too young to die.
R.I.P. baby girl… you left a void that will never be filled.
