Phoebe

After losing a previous cat and waiting awhile I realized it was time for another kitty. Suddenly someone I knew sister in law had one kitten left from a litter of a barn cat. I picked up this calico/tabby kitten and took her home. She checked out my house and promptly jumped on my bed and went to sleep. Phoebe had come home. She was a spunky feisty kitten who turned into a spunky feisty cat who definitely knew her own mind. While she wasn't a lap cat and hated to be picked up she was definitely affectionate in her way. She loved toys that made noise especially her mousies. she could open any cupboard, cabinet or drawer in the house to get to that great sleeping spot. Once a friend was watching her while I was away and came in and found linen and towels scattered all the the floor and thought someone had broken in. It was just Phoebe getting all those things out of her way. but one of my best memories is our routine when I would come home. i would lie on the bed and she would hop up and butt my hand with her head for some pets, after she had her strokes she would curl up on my lap or right next to me for a nap. I called it our girl time. when phoebe got sick and wasn't getting better and was in such pain, I had to make that painful decision to end her misery. I miss my Phoebe and my home is definitely emptier now but I know she's chasing those mousies up in the great beyond. She was one hell of a cat.
