Noora

A donation was made in memory of Noora by the doctors and staff at Green Lake Animal Hospital on Dec 23, 2025.

Noora was Collin’s red flag, and I stole her.

Collin bought her after the death of his first cat, an orange mutt. He had Spike for 15 years, and we had Noora together for 5. I did not expect we would only get a third of the time. I truly expected no time with her. Cat owners always seemed a little crazy to me.

When Noora chose my lap first, I should have realized I was the crazy one. It was several months into Covid, and my extended sleepover at Collin’s had grown Noora’s interest in me. Our first interaction left a cut across my palm. I had been petting her while she rested on the top of a chair. She purred and accidentally rolled off. One claw speared me as she tried to stop her tumble. She liked to scratch me. I once put all the remotes in the house around her, hoping it would stop her pouncing. Eventually, she stopped perching on my knee, and began curling in my lap. Now, she is in a jar next to her paw print, and the patch of white fur from her chest.

I told everyone she was a Russian blue tuxedo mix. Collin told everyone she was a teen mom from Yakima. She was born in a hoarding situation, and adopted me. Collin also told everyone she approved of me first. Our love persists even though it feels wrong to lose her.
