Mercie

From the start, Mercie was destined to be my dog. I waited patiently for her litter to be born and specified to the breeder that I wanted a b/w tri female dog. And she happened to be the only female in the litter - so she was mine! I flew to Ohio to bring her home on the airplane. We spent a night in a hotel and she was perfect on the plane.

We have always had at least two other dogs in our home who I have always loved a lot, but she and I were like glue. She knew me, trusted me, loved me. I knew her, trusted her and loved her so so much. We had a special bond. She was my travel dog, walking buddy, therapy dog and continual companion.

She was a Pet Partner therapy dog and we saw patients and staff at Cancer Care Northwest. She loved it every time. She was always so happy when we drove into the CCN parking lot, she knew she was going to visit with people. And they thought she was wonderful.

She gave us a perfect litter of puppies, and we kept two of them for our family. We had a lovely herd of four dogs. I am so thankful I still have her daughters to love.

When she was diagnosed wither her tumor, she was a trooper, as always. During her radiation treatments she was such a good patient. She trusted that we were doing the right thing, and she was easy to work with, even though we had to travel and stay in a hotel for the treatments. After her tumor was gone for a while, it came back with a vengeance, and took her from me. This is the most devastating loss I’ve ever experienced. I still miss her and I will love her forever.
