Gus, a Lewellin Setter, was my best pal. After picking him up at 7 weeks old I was transferred to a construction project that was 4.5 hours’ drive from my home. We packed up the RV and made our home away from home closer to the job site. In my line of work I have the luxury of taking him with me each day. We spent 24/7 together until he was tragically removed from my life on 6/17/11. He was just coming into his prime, oh boy was ever. Smart, loyal and he loved to run. His point, with his tail high in air, was sight to behold. I know he’ll be waiting for me, waiting to hunt up a covey of quail or wily old rooster. I still tear up thinking of him. He will forever be in my heart.
