A LOVING TRIBUTE TO MY LOVING DOG CHANCE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. Passed 2-16-16.
THANK YOU LORD FOR THE CHANCE
The chance to spend almost fourteen & one half years. With one of the best friends I’ve ever had, as I write I hold back the tears.
This beautiful friend I speak of was probably the 3 rd best ever, behind only Jesus & my wife. And his spirit, his devotion & his love truly decorated my life.
I rescued from a shelter @ only seven weeks old. However he really rescued me, if the truth be told.
For fourteen & one half years always & everyday he was there. A wagging tale & beautiful brown eyes that just seemed to say “love you dad & I really care”.
Often I have said that dog is just God spelled in reverse. Like God he was always there on the best days & also on the worst.
I named this loyal friend of mine Chance. Instantly & permanently into my heart he would dance.
I’ve spent hundreds of wonderful hours doing chores & walking with him right there @ my side. When it was time for him to go I said thanks to God for his life & then I cried. For you see it’s hard to imagine my life minus him though I’ve tried.
God has in so many ways blessed me, examples are my children, my grandchildren & my beautiful wife. Truly & without question Chance ranks right there @ the top as one of the finest blessings ever in my life.
I am so lost with his absence, even the gravel where we played fetch seems to cry. But many of the tears that have fallen are happy ones & his love & devotion are why.
Through the years if it was hot outside or so cold I would shiver. Always he was there sharing time on the deck or on a walk @ the river.
He was happy whenever I was. Wagged his tail when he looked my way just because.
If dogs don’t go to heaven when I get there me & God are gonna have a talk. Cause without Chance a walk just wouldn’t be a good walk.
But he’ll be there waiting, I have no doubt that it’s true. He’ll greet me with a wagging tail & then show me around up there past a sky of blue.
So on that distant day I will again smile as I pet him & watch him prance. And in person I can tell our loving God thanks for the amazing love & devotion that truly was my dog CHANCE.
Miss you my friend. With all my love Slim.
