Morgan was my faithful companion for 16.5 years. He was sent to doggie heaven on July 22nd, 2009 after battling renal failure for 3 years.
Our journey started in SW PA back in 1993 where an elderly lady decided she couldn't care for Morgan. I had just graduated from college and lost a dog while I was away. Someone knew I needed a dog like Morgan to go on a journey with me. In 1994, I lost my dad and Morgan was there.
Then in 1995, we left PA for graduate school and lived in Illinois until 1997, traveling back and forth the 10 hour stretch to PA. From there our journey took us to MD and then to N. VA just outside of DC in Arlington, VA where we settled down for a little over 4 years.
Following 9/11, a leap of faith took us to N. ID in 2002 and finally to Portland, OR since 2005.
Without complaint, Morgan moved with me and for a period of time in each place he was my only friend and sometimes the only friend who continued on with me to the next destination. He lived with cats and other dogs along the way. Eventually, we found him a sister, named Molly who is a beagle mix. Morgan's paws have been from the east coast beaches to the west coast beaches with several stops in-between. He is truly a well-traveled dog.
Gosh, I miss him. He was so stoic, so loyal and so unique. I love you little man. Run like a puppy again in doggie heaven. Look over me as my journey continues with you in spirit.
