Kayla

A donation was made in memory of Kayla by Finn and Missy on Jan 29, 2025.

In 2020 I was on the Board of Directors of ADOPT, a pet shelter in Naperville, IL. I was a licensed foster home for cats. When COVID-19 hit the USA, our state shut down all non-essential businesses. Pet shelters were deemed not to be essential and we could not have volunteers in our shelter taking care of our many dogs and cats. So all foster homes were called into action. Kayla, a 10 year old tabby was brought to me. I was told her name was Kayla, and she was very unhappy at the shelter.

So I eventually adopted Kayla and became a foster failure. Even though she was a senior kitty, she was taught manners, great litter box habits and became my lap cat. If I sat down, Kayla was there in my lap…if I called her name, she came running. She never begged for people food, never played gravity with breakable things and never bolted for the door.

She passed away in my arms on January 27, 2025 and was 15 years old when she died. I miss her company, and her chunky body on my lap. She was one of the best cats I have had.
