Jake

A donation was made in memory of Jake by Drs. Kathryn, Gary, and Edward Haigh at Haigh Veterinary Hospital on Jun 29, 2017.

I discovered Jake while working, he was on a short car chain, no bed, no house, no food dishes and freezing. I wondered how I would ever talk someone out of their pet that was so neglected. I approached the owners and said, "I have fallen in love with your dog and if you ever want to get rid of him, I'd love to have him" Their reply was "When do you want to pick him up?" The owner explained a long list of why he had become so neglected- "he wasn't wanted" and he was sick and they were planning to shoot him. I changed his name to Jake the second day I had him, his head snapped around like it had been his name all along. Jake was so grateful to me for saving him and we became so close. Jake had liver problems and then cancer. We hoped we had time, because neither Jake or I wanted to say "Goodbye" Jake and I bonded and had a special understanding that I have never had with any other animal. Jake is an American Staffordshire, and a wonderful ambassador of his breed. He was our four legged child for 7 years.
